With a 70-41 win on Saturday against Indian Springs, the Vaqueros finished off the preseason with a 5-10 record after playing in two of the toughest tournaments in Orange County. Against Indian Springs, the Vaqueros had a strong team effort, with four players in double digits. The Vaqueros were led by Juniors Rylan Talesh and Ethan Le who scored 16 points apiece. Freshman Chase Porter and Junior Greg Mikhanjian contributed 13 and 10 points respectively.
In the Estanica Tournament over the holiday break, the Vaqueros went 2-2 defeating Rancho Alamitos and Calvary Chapel. The Vaqueros received consistent performances from Le and Porter. Le was also named to the All-Tournament Team for the Irvine World News Tournament.

GIRLS BASKETBALL (from Coach Morris)
Girls Basketball begins league this week against Northwood.  We also have two non-conference games this week against Aliso Niguel and Capo Valley.  Varsity went 5-7 so far this season with wins over Mission Viejo, Trabuco Hills, Laguna Beach.  Four of our losses were 4 points or less.  Trying to stay in our "process" and focus on the learning and not so much on the result.  We are improving every game and are learning to play with and for each other.   Jenny Beliveau has come on as a varsity assistant coach.  JV began the Ocean View tourney with their new head coach David Njemanze.  David works at Irvine High School in the Special Education department.  JV went 3-2 in the OV tourney taking their overall record to 8-5.   (see attachment for their schedule)
